Jordan records 33 COVID-19 fatalities, 1, 220 new cases on Wednesday-MoH

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 5 (Petra)-The Ministry of Health announced 33 Covid-19 fatalities and 1,220 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 8,988 and the caseload to 716, 923.The statement added that there are currently 11, 411 cases on Wednesday countrywide.The new infections comprised 348 cases in the capital, Amman, 304 in Irbid, including 52 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 108 in Zarqa, 84 in Balqa, 79 in Mafraq, 62 in Ma'an, including 23 in southern Petra region, 59 in Karak, 43 in Tafileh, 40 in Jerash, 39 in Ajloun, 27 in Aqaba, and 27 in Madaba, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 120, while 140 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Wednesday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 2, 097 bringing the total to 696,524 since the outbreak began.Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 1,147.The statement also indicated that occupancy of ICU beds in the northern, central and southern regions, has reached 36%, 41%, and 20%, respectively.With regard to testing, 17, 877 tests were conducted Wednesday, 6.82 percent of which were positive.Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,781, 275, the joint statement noted.
