Hurricane Lee charges over Atlantic waters as a Category 5 storm, approaching the Caribbean

Hurricane Lee has become the first Category 5 storm of the Atlantic season, although it is not expected to make landfall. The storm is located east of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving west-northwest at 14 mph. It is expected to remain a major hurricane into next week. The US Federal Emergency Management Agency has deployed assets to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
