A 29-year-old student from Telangana, India, named Putcha Varun Raj, was stabbed in the head by a man at a gym in Indiana, United States. The attacker, Jordan Andrade, claimed that he found Varun "a little weird" and felt threatened by him. Varun, who was pursuing his MS in computer science, had a slim chance of survival due to the severity of his injuries.
