Saudi Woman Barricaded In Hotel In Thailand Says Family Wants To Kill Her

An 18-year-old Saudi woman who said her family wants to kill her barricaded herself inside an airport hotel in Bangkok.

According to Reuters, the woman claims to be fleeing her country and family.

After discussions with the United Nations refugee agency, she has reportedly left the airport.

The case is drawing new global attention to Saudi Arabia’s strict social rules, including a requirement that women have the permission of a male “guardian” to travel.
