Hollywood actress Ashley Judd's sexual harassment claim against movie producer Harvey Weinstein was dismissed on Wednesday by a federal judge in Los Angeles.
However, the judge said that Judd could proceed with a defamation claim in the civil lawsuit.
Judd accused Weinstein of smearing her reputation after she refused what she said were his sexual advances.
The lawsuit, which was filed in April 2018, alleges that Weinstein discouraged director Peter Jackson from casting her in the blockbuster trilogy "The Lord of the Rings".
The judge ruled that the particular statute on which Judd based her sexual harrassment claim, did not pertain to her work as an actress.
He also noted that his decision was not a determination on whether Judd was in fact sexually harrassed by Weinstein.
Weinstein is to stand trial in May in New York on five charges, including rape involving two other women.
Weinstein has denied all accusations, saying any sexual encounters were consensual.
