Since its release last February, 'Black Panther' has broken a lot of records, from pre-sales and box office business to being the biggest selling film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, the film has broken another record by being the first superhero movie to get an Oscar nomination in the Best Picture category.
SOUNDBITE actor, Chadwick Boseman, saying (English): "Sometimes art tells the story of history and sometimes art makes history.
Sometimes art is aspirational in terms of what life should be and what we should aspire to, so hopefully people see Wakanda and I think see the heart of these people if they can see themselves in these characters." The film also marked another first in Hollywood with the diversity of its cast.
SOUNDBITE actress, Lupita Nyong'o, saying (English): "As much as we all have dark skin, we are from everywhere around the globe.
There is Zimbabwe and Kenya and South Africa and Nigeria and Ghana and Guyana and Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobego and Germany and the US and Canada and the UK and you name it, there's someone from there so you know, it's just so wonderful to have a film that really showcases the pan-Africanism, you know." Will 'Black Panther' leap ahead of its competition at the Oscars?
You can find out when the Academy Awards take place on February 24.
