Flights Delayed As Government Shutdown Stretches Into 35th Day

According to a report by Gizmodo, as the partial government shutdown hits its 35th day, flights at New York’s LaGuardia airport, New Jersey’s Newark airport, and Philadelphia International Airport have been delayed due to staffing issues at air traffic control centers.

An FAA spokesperson told Gizmodo, “We have experienced a slight increase in sick leave at two facilities.

We’ve mitigated the impact by augmenting staffing, rerouting traffic, and increasing spacing between aircraft when needed.
