North Korea's Kim Jon Un Finishes Signature Construction Project

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un celebrated the completion of his signature construction project.

The project is a new city near the sacred mountain where his family claims its roots.

According to Reuters, state media call it the “epitome of modern civilization.” The country hopes the city will be a “socialist utopia” with new apartments, commercial, cultural and medical facilities.

KCNA said it can accommodate 4,000 families with 380 blocks of public and industrial buildings.

Kim Jong-un tears up during massive military parade

[11:05] Dessent-Jackson, Louee North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appeared emotional while speaking at a massive military parade in Pyongyang early on Saturday, marking the 75th anniversary of the Workers’ Party, the country's ruling party. Before shedding a few tears, he thanked volunteers who responded to the recent flooding in the country. Tens of thousands of spectators loudly welcomed the leader as he appeared from a building as the clock struck midnight. It’s unusual for North Korea to hold a military parade in the middle of the night, although such conditions may provide benefits in protecting sensitive information about weapons that were rolled out. This week’s festivities are designed as a major event to glorify Kim Jong-un’s achievements as leader of North Korea. Report by Bassaneseg. Kim Jong-Un Surveys Damage in Typhoon-Hit Area

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has visited areas struck by a typhoon and called for 12,000 workers from the capital Pyongyang to join in the recovery efforts. North Korean state-run TV showed footage of Kim and other officials surveying the damage in a rural and coastal area in South Hamgyong province. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim said that "the conditions of the overall coastline of our country are poor and sea dikes were not properly built.” State media did not report any injuries or deaths, but the country’s main newspaper said that local officials will be “gravely punished” for failing to evacuate residents.
