Financial help could be on its way.

News?

Some much needed financial help may soon be coming to daycares and other child care programs. as kezi 9 news reporter michael sevren show us, one daycare owner says if help doesn't come fast she'll have to clos her doors.

Trt 1:16 at la escuilita daycare, owner belia navarro says with more people staying at home their enrollment has taken a nose dive.

Right now she doesn't know if she will be able to stay open beyond the end of the month.

She says if they close...they could close for good.

Sot: i think it would be very difficult for families to go back to work without child care providers.

Because if we are closed are people going to go back to work if there is nobody there.

But financial help could be on it's way.

Representative suzanne bonamici, senator jeff merkley, and senator ron wyden are calling for 50 billion dollars in aid to the child care sector.

They say that money would not only help cover operating expenses and hazard pay, but also help cover the cost for essential and emergency workers.

Stand up according to a report by the national association for the education of young children, one out of four child care providers in the state would not survive a two week closure.

That why some lawmakers say aid to day cares is critical for navarro, that aid can't come soon enough.

Like many she's already applied for federal assistance for her buisseses but is still waiting.

Sot: if we don't get any assitace, it will very difficult for us to continue doing business.

I also spoke to another daycare owner.

Coming up in the next hour on kezi 9 news at 6, hear how she plans to keep her doors open.
