Nearly 9,000 in Madison County tested for coronavirus

Strain on testing.

Huntsivlle hopsital c-e-o david spillers said today nearly 9 thousand people have been tested for coronavirus in madison county since march.

Spillers said today they have tested hundreds of patients before surgery during the past two weeks.

He said so far still only one person that has tested positive that was asymptomatic.

And to spillers that promising that maybe coronavirus isn't as rampant in the community as preivously thought "contrary to the belief that there were a lot of asymptomatic patients running around in our community that were not diagnosed, data is proving that not to be true."

Now, over the past weeks i have asked spillers about the availability of testing and if asymptomatic people can get a coronavirus test.

Today- he said the availability of testing is more available now.

Huntsville hospital looked into it's testing capacity and is working to open up testing to individuals that wanted to be tested who don't have symptoms. but they still haven't announced formal plans for that testing.

This afternoon- huntsville hospital c-e-o spillers said as testing becomes more avaialble in the community anyone who wants to be tested should make sure they are going to a reputable place for the test.
