White house coronavirus task force said mississippi and alabama should roll back reopening.

The news came after a visit by doctor deborah birx this week.

She met with governor tate reeves and several community members this week about the surge of coronavirus cases in the state.

Mississippi saw a record number of cases topping more than a thousand in recent days.

Dr, deborah birx also met with governor kay ivey at the governor's mansion thursday.

Doctor birx called ivey's statewide mask mandate a "brilliant" idea during their meeting.

White house leaders said both states are in the red zone because both states reported counties with new cases above 100 per 100-thousand population and a diagnostic test positivity result above ten percent.

The report from the task force came despite president donald trump's insistence that states reopen and a push to send the nation's children back to school, even as cases increase.
