Monitor lizard caught after hiding under car bonnet in Thailand

A monitor lizard was caught after hiding inside a car in engine in Thailand.

The 5ft long reptile sparked panic after rampaging through homes in Chonburi province the east of the country on July 18 afternoon.

Local animal handlers were called to help catch the wild animal - which ran away as they cased after it.

The sneaky lizard ran under a car but was stuck in the engine and left the rescue team with more complex job of catching it.

They spent 40 minutes removing the car's parts before they could catch the agile reptile.

The aggressive creature was later released in its natural habitat away from people.
