The North Elementary child tested positive for coronavirus, but the school district wants to keep moving forward with in-school lessons.

Weeks.

Among the hoosier count tonight -- a student in posey county .

But those contaminated classrooms - won't be emptied out.

44news reporter erran huber explains why - school officials are keeping students -- at their desks.

Jessica-- the superintendent announced today--an elementary school student--here in poseyville is out sick.

And others-- quarantined after contact tracing.

Staff at the metropolitan school district of north posey-- says this is something they anticipated.

But now--it's become a reality.

A student at north elementary school--positive for covid-19.

Little more is known--including the grade of the student--or how they got infected.

Also unclear-- how many kids overall have been impacted.

But one parent we spoke to-- who's also a teacher in posey county-- says she feels confident in the plans schools across the area have put into place.

"i don't think it's something you want to hear about, but i think we all need to keep the schools in our mind, and just keep ourselves aware that they're all doing the best they can to protect the students and their teachers.

So, i think they're doing their job, but it's just kind of inevitable, and we'll handle it as it happens."
