A 17-year-old has been arrested for the overnight shooting in downtown Lafayette that left two people dead.

Information about a double homicide that happened in lafayette last night.

We now know the names of the victims. we first told you about it as breaking news this morning.

News 18's samantha thieke is live from where it happened.

Samantha what have you learned?

Marlee, the deputy coroner just told me the victims are 37 year old joshua ungersma and 19- year-old alberto vanmeter.

Both are from lafayette.

It happened in the area of 16th and hart streets.

You can see that area on your screen right now.

News 18 was in the area overnight with officers.

Lafayette police lieutenant matt gard says the call came in around 11:14 last night.

When officers got here, they found the two men dead from gunshot wounds.

Lpd is still investigating the homicides.

But a teenage girl has been arrested in connection to what happened here.

The deputy coroner also mentioned that ungersma was a pizza delivery driver in lafayette.

Lieutenant gard could not say if that had anything to do with the homicides.

I've been talking with neighbors who actually heard and saw what happened here last night.
