CDC is telling states to get ready to release a Covid-19 vaccine.

Now.

The director of the c-d-c is calling on all states to have vaccine distribution sites 'fully operational by november 1st.'

That's just two days before the general election.

News 12's danielle moss talked to a local doctor and people in the community about their thoughts on receiving a coronavirus vaccine.

Covid-19 cases have passed the 6 million mark in the united states.

Cbs news obtained a letter from the c-d-c that indicates americans could see a vaccine before 20-21.

They are asking governors to make plans to distribute hundreds of millions of vaccine doses.

The letter says the target date is november 1st.

Two days before the presidential election.

One of chattanooga's infectious disease doctors, dr. mark anderson says that having a vaccine could still be a ways away.

Dr. mark anderson/ infectious disease doctor- "as a doctor, i'm going to want to see good evidence of both efficacy and safety.

And a lot of that can't be rushed.

So, i am very skeptical about something being available soon.

If it is, i'll be one of the happiest people around."

The c-d-c says that the first round of vaccines would be available for healthcare workers and high risk groups.

Some chattanoogans, like benjamin luck, are skeptical of the virus itself and don't think the vaccine should be available so early.

Benjamin luck/chattanoog an-"i don't believe that they could effectively test any vaccine in that time, develop it, test it and just have the data for the possible health repercussions, the negative reactions and things like that.

There's no way they can compile that kind of data in that kind of time."

Other chattanoogans like rei mendenhall are willing to try the vaccine but only once it is safe.

Rei mendenhall/chat tanoogan-"i would probably wait a little bit before i get the vaccine because this is going to be like a brand new system.

Everything is going to be brand new and nobody's going to know how it's going to effect.

So, i want to at least see how it's going to effects other people before i completely get it."

Dr. mark anderson says that he would also like to know all the facts about the vaccine before he takes it himself.

Dr. mark anderson/ infectious disease doctor- "but, before i take it, i'm going to be scrutinizing that information very very closely."
