Firefighters are working to fully contain an area right off Lower Forbestown Road.

As the bear fire continues to grow to now 82 thousand 500 acres with 63 percent containment.

15 people are dead... 1,979 buildings destroyed.

It's the west zone of the north complex -- which has burned more than 301 thousand acres.

You can see hot spots active now -- north of fobestown... action news now reporter amy lanski -- at the front lines today -- shows us one way that firefighters are working to contain this fire.

Amy lanski: "i'm up here in forbestown and as you can see behind me the handcrews have already reinforced that contingency line.

I spoke to a fire captain to learn why that is so important."

Rick crawford: "the hand crews is an additional piece to make this contingency line with additional safety measures.

What it does is it minimizes eratic fire behaviour, so it enhances the chances of success, for the contingency line to hold as part of our additional tool for fire fighting."
