If you're parked on the wrong side, you'll receive a $25 ticket.

Mid 60s, with new this morning on daybreak.

It might be hard to think about snow right now, but seasonal parking starts this week in rochester!

Kimt news 3's madelyne watkins is learning why the med city is already implementing changes in october.

She joins us live now, madelyne... what are the requirements for seasonal parking?/// brooke and tyler.

You never know with a midwest winter... but i'm hoping we won't see snow for a little while longer.

However, we are seeing leaves falling and that's why october first is the magic number.

Seasonal parking in rochester is from this thursday, october first until may first of 2021.

Alternate parking is the biggest requirement of seasonal parking.

That means when it's an odd date on the calendar... you need to park on the odd side of the street and vise versa.

To determine which side of the street is odd and even... you look at the house numbers.

Megan moeller works for the city and she tells me the requirements are in place from 2 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon... so she recommends to just park for the next day when you get home in the evening.

So, why does the parking change take effect now?

I'll let megan "so now in october, this is a great opportunity for our street sweepers to get out and pick up fall leaves and other debris that's in the street.

Because when that debris makes its way to a storm drain, it could potentially cause a plug and cause localized flooding.

Then also that debris is going to go to our local waterway and can cause pollution, which we would then see in the future in the form of algae or other types of problems."

Moeller wants to point out that it's important to not only pay attention to the seasonal parking signs, but also other parking signs like no parking zones.

Live in rochester.

Madelyne watkins kimt thank you madelyne.
