WTVA reporter Chelsea Brown spoke with the school's principal and district superintendent about the process and its effects.

Live in tupelo, bronson woodruff... w-t-v-a nine news... hundreds of tupelo students are now in quarantine.

Students at the high school were sent home until after thanksgiving break because of the coronavirus.

Wtvas chelsea brown is live with how students are now learning at home.

School administrators canceled athletics and all students are learning from home this week.

I spoke with high school principal mr. dobbs he says most students are doing good virutually some already have an eye on thanksgiving.

"students probably getting in bad habits again, starting thanksgiving early.."

41 out of the 200 teachers and staff members are in quarintine.

292 students out of 1932 total are under quarintine.

29 students tested positive.

"quarantine process is really the only way we can keep the coronavirus out of the schools" tupelo high school principal says typically they see positive cases or exposure close to the weekends.

Last friday the school canceled the football playoff game because of coronavirus.

That ended the season for the golden wave.

Both girls and boys basketball teams are under quarintine.

Administrators canceled games last week and this week.

"we will get to start over fresh, and reassess where we are at and have a good 3 weeks before christmas holiday."

Students will return to class on november 30th.

On november 30th.

They will be in class until december when students get out for christmas break.
