Food Giant manager says that suppliers are giving them what they need despite pandemic

As coronavirus virus numbers continue to rise.

Some people are concerned we will once again see shortages of toilet paper, paper towels and other products similar to when the pandemic began.

Wtva's wayne hereford joins us live from monroe county to see one grocery store is doing right now and why some of their customers seem to be doing o.k.

Dwayne jackson manages the food giant here in aberdeen.

He said right now his store received all of the goods and supplies needed and there has not been a massive run on things like toilet paper.

He also said many of his customers seem to be getting help with food stamps through government programs. natsound..the cash registers are ringing at food giant in aberdeen just as they have throughout the pandemic.

"is been a lot more busy than usual but nothing just out of control.

It hasn't been really been any panic buying."

In fact, we found the toilet paper isle at food giant was well stocked.

"on the national news there was talk about a shortage of paper again.

You know at the beginning we had a big shortage of paper but so far we have been able to get it from our suppliers.

We haven't had that this time."

Standup.."things may be good here at food giant but i did talk with another woman here at food giant who works at another store .

She says they are still having problems keeping some supplies."

Mesha sanders works at family dollar right next door to food giant.

"and i work at family dollar, and i have a hard time getting lysol, you know."

Meanwhile, dwayne jackson said the government is helping a lot of people right now to buy groceries during the pandemic.

"yeah the snap program , they did issue extra stamps so i don't know to everyone but certainly to individuals.

And some individuals got stamps about the middle of last week they got a pretty good boost in sales."

Jackson said times are hard right now but he believes his suppliers will continue to hold up through this pandemic.
