Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said Monday that schools in the state's COVID-19 Red Zone can soon return to in-person learning on a hybrid schedule, but only under certain conditions.

We are also learning - changes will be made to state recommendatio ns - allowing students in red zone counties - to return to the classroom.... starting january 4th - there can be in- person instruction in red counties - but there must be a "more aggressive hybrid" schedule in place - during that time.... on top of that - healthy at school guidelines - which have been recommendatio ns to this point - will be mandates in 20-21.... "we know that the implementation of the healthy at school document will look different in some of our smallest towns than it does in some of our largest cities.

That is why we are making sure that guidance is there, that scientific data and multiple metrics are there and that are schools are able to implement that as they see best suits their community and their school districts."

Schools will also be required to offer meaningful virtual options - for students who are at higher risk - that will not impact their class rank.... districts must also offer virtual options for employees in the high risk category - while keeping schools open during a red zone classification.... and team kentucky is still asking schools - to delay the return to the classroom until january 11th - creating a 2- week buffer between christmas celebrations - and
