The Mall at Barnes Crossing is seeing a bunch of business during the Christmas season, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

General manager of the mall at barnes crossing says that the stores are making a lot of money right now.

The pandemic has not dampened christmas shopping.

Wayne hereford joins us live inside the mall with what he learned about coronavirus safety inside.

The mall manager says the building is always crowded during the holiday season.

But with the coronavirus still in the air, jeff snyder says the mall is taking a lot of safety measures.

"everybody is wearing masks i feel safe."

(larry hughes) larry hughes of tupelo brought his family to the mall at barnes crossing to do a little christmas shopping.

He was not worried about coronavirus.

Everybody i see is wearing a mask man.

Everyone is standing far apart.

If you want to come shop come on up."

We did see a lot of people wearing their masks inside the mall .

Like, larry hughes... they seem to be following state and local guidelines that the mall management says is in place here.

"if you go out and look on a busy, busy day like black friday 95-percent of our customers were wearing masks and we want to offer awareness that encourages them to do so."

Snyder says that mall security if giving away free masks to anyone that wants one.

Standup..snyder says that right now the food court is seating only 75-percent of capacity to fight the possible spread of the coronavirus."

He says there are hand sanitizing stations throughout the mall and special air sanitizing filters installed in the mall's ventilation system.

One store owner says that the customers feel safe here and are spending a lot of money.

(raj ranjan-store owner) "i feel very safe over here.

And the security has done a great job of supplying everybody who does not have a mask."

Mall manager says that some of the retailers are ahead of last year's sales number right now.

He believes people simply want to get out and shop.

But he says customers are having plenty of opportunity to sanitize.

And he says the mall supports all state and local mandates .
