Delhi govt presents 'Deshbhakti Budget', announces free Covid-19 vaccine for all

The Delhi government presented a Rs 69,000-crore budget themed on 'patriotism' for financial year 2021-22 on Tuesday.

It announced free Covid-19 vaccination to all in its hospitals in the coming phases of the ongoing inoculation drive.

A provision of Rs 50 crore has been made in Delhi's annual budget for this scheme.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the budget on Tuesday.

"AAP govt is carrying out the vaccination drive for free at its hospitals.

Current capacity is 45,000 people a day, it will be augmented to 60,000 a day.

A person can go to a private hospital, pay Rs 250 and get a vaccine shot.

But many have to think if they should spend on ration or get vaccines for their families.

In the 75th year of independence, this question should not arise in the minds of citizens.

So we decided that vaccines at our hospitals will continue to be given for free.

An outlay of Rs 50 crore made under 'Aam Aadmi Nishulk COVID Vaccine Yojana," he said.

Sisodia presented the budget for the seventh consecutive time in Delhi Assembly.
