CNN reports that 'Hawkeye' actor Jeremy Renner is recovering after a New Year's Day snow plowing accident.

According to a spokesperson, Renner was in "critical but stable condition" after suffering from "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.".

CNN reports that the 51-year-old actor has already undergone two surgeries to address injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a "traumatic injury" in the area of Mount Rose Highway in Reno.

The Sheriff's Office said that Renner was the only person involved in the accident and that an investigation into the circumstances of the incident was underway.

The National Weather Service in Reno said that at the time of the accident, the area had received up to 18 inches of snow at higher elevations.

CNN reports that Renner has shared multiple posts on Instagram showing him in snowy conditions, including a post just two weeks ago of the actor driving a snow plow.

On January 2, Renner's family released a statement thanking hospital staff and first responders.
