Manipur SDPO murder suspect a BJP worker, expelled

Hemkholal Mate, the treasurer of Manipur's BJP unit, was arrested in connection with the killing of Chingtham Anand Kumar. Mate has been expelled from the party and the BJP will scrutinize its members for criminal activities. The state unit has over 4.7 lakh primary members. Mate is also the chief of K Moulsang village in Moreh and finance secretary of Mate Tribe Union (MTU). A combined team of state forces, including special commandos, arrested Mate and the prime accused in the crime, Philip Khaikholal Khongsai, during an operation at Moreh in Tengnoupal district.
