An honorary degree.

While many were celebrated by their families... some were celebrating with them... adam duxter tells us about two very special graduates... who have more in common than just their diplomas.

2 sot ((( , " ")))20 57 25 i'm excited for both of us, but it's been important to me to not steal her thunder because this is a big day for her.

3 vo track because she was there with her.

Brandsma made the choice to come back for her masters in social work... during her son's graduation from uw in 2015 3 sot ((( , " ")))20 58 20 katie couric was the speaker and talked about following your passions and dreams. i made the decision sitting in camp randall that i was going to school.

4 vo track stephanie... starting her undergraduate degree in the same field... at the same time.

4 sot ((( , " ")))21 00 04 most of my experience has been people telling me i'm crazy for wanting to be a social worker, and then i'll say, well my mom's a social worker, so i know what i'm getting myself into.

4 vo track getting some help along the way... 4 sot ((( , " ")))21 02 09 i would like to point out that she's the better student.

4 vo track and while graduation is normally a time for parents to be proud of their kids... for the brandsmas... it's the other way around.

4 sot ((( , " ")))21 02 50 you really went out on a limb and you dared to come back to school, put yourself in an uncomfortable position, when you're an older student, and i was just really proud of you for trying.

Stephanie says she's been inspired by her mom to pursue her masters
