MEALS TO THOSE IN NEED DAILY.AS WMAR 2 NEWSREPORTS COMMUNITY ACTIVISTKWAME ROSE HAS JOINED THEFIGHT.

HE'S SECURING MEALSFROM BLACK OWNED RESTAURANTSIN AN EFFORT TO FEED SENIORSAND OTHERS IN NEED.All morning long we've seenvolunteers like Kwame andThomas loading up this vanwith food with the goal todeliver 250 meals per day.

Themeals go to community centersand seniors in need.

THEMORNING STARTS WITH EMPTYCARRIERS FOR FOOD FIRSTRESPONDER KWAME ROSE.

HISFIRST STOP━ DOWNTOWNBALTIMORE CITY'S CORNER BISTROAND WINE BAR.

ROSE ANDVOLUNTEERS PICK up 125 HOTMEALS.

"It's a little loosebut you can carry that" THEYTHEN LOAD THE MEALS INTO ATRANSPORT VAN LEAVING ROOM FORTHE NEXT FOOD PICKUP.

ROSE HASBEEN PICKING UP AND DROPPINGOFF FOOD SINCE LAST WEEK.

Thewhole goal of this project wasto help disrupt the disruptionthat local businesses andrestaurants have a feelingbecause of the shut down butalso do some good and helpfeed the seniors.

THE PROJECTFOCUSES ON SOURCING MEALS FROMBLACK OWNED RESTAURANTS.

WHENCORNER BISTRO OWNER IVANOFUOKWU GOT THE CALL TOPARTICIPATE HE DIDNT HESITATE.It's like, yet you want to bein survival mode but even&When you have an opportunityto help somebody else it's agood feeling.

TODAY'S FIRSTDELIVERY IS LIBERTY REC & TECHCENTER IN LIBERTY HEIGHTS.

SinceMarch she's fed or distributed17,000 meals so we get 50 onTuesdays and another 60 onWednesday to her.

THE MEALSARE A MUCH WELCOMED SIGHT.

Wehave different families thatcome.

I personally deliver thefood to the people that can'tcome to the site.

And withthem coming on Tuesdays it'sbeen a big help.

The ones thatdon't have access to amicrowave at least they have ahot meals for them.

AFTER THEREC CENTER FOOD FIRSTRESPONDERS PICK UP THE REST OFTHE DAY'S MEALS AT SALAAMEATERY IN WALBROOK JUNCTION.FROM THEIR THEY HEAD TO THEIRLAST DROP OFF SITEHIGHLANDTOWN PLAZA C━OPAPARTMENTS.

THE WARM MEALSWILL GO TO THE SENIORCOMMUNITY THERE.

ROSE SAYSBECAUSE RESTAURANTS OFTENDONATE MORE MEALS THAN ORDEREDTHERE'S ENOUGH LEFTOVER TOHELP ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS.

Ihave a couple that I take careof in West Baltimore and dropoff a meal to them every dayas well as a woman who justgot out of the hospital Afterhaving surgery on her heart.WITH 250 MEALS BEING DELIVEREDA DAY WE ASKED HOW LONG THEFOOD RUNNING SERVICE WILL LASTHE SAID UNTIL THE MONEYCOMMITTED DRIES UP.

We've beenguaranteed at least the nextcouple of weeks.

Hopefully ifpeople can pour in donationsto the world central kitchenwe can keep this going becausewhat we're finding is that 250meals a day And areabusinesses are being paid byworld central kitchen in DC.For each meal they create theyget about $10.
