136 employees of Steuben meat plant test positive for COVID 19

One hundred 36 employees at a steuben county meat processing plant are quarantined at home.

They tested positive for covid 19 over the weekend...marking another outbreak of covid in a large scale processing plant.

.the plant is now at 70 percent capacity...the meat they deliver all across the midwest including here behind me... won't be going as fast as it once was....but officials are confident they are getting this under control.

3 we had 136 test positive and 85 percent were asymptomatic prior and durin gthe test and still are17 percent of employees at miller poultry in steuben county staying at home...they tested positive for covid 19... and kevin diehl vice president of plant operations says he's not totally surprised by the large number.the national trend in not just meat plant but all facilitise that aer testing employees that is the trendthe plant brought in cameron hosptial to test its employees on the first of may....diehl says the first employee to test positive was on april 21- st... soon after that seven others tested positive.

"saturday we brought in cameron hospital and they tested all of our employees" wednesday morning the plant announced the number of employees infected... and what the plant is doing.we're running the plant at 70 percent of normal capacitythe plant distributes all over northeast indiana...many supermarkets you walk into will have miller poultry products.diehl says this shouldn't hold up production too much... and expects when employees are able to come back...and the last three days have to be fever free and symptom freethey'll be back up to speed.
