Oregon athletes say 'Happy Mother's Day' to their number one fans

Local athletes took the time to talk to NewsWatch 12 Sports to thank their moms.

No matter what is going on in our lives, most of us can always turn to our mother's when we need them most.

(take josh key) josh washington says, "knowing that i count on her, being there for me when we lose and just supporting me in all sorts of ways."

(take sam key) sam vidlak says, "she's the best person i can ask for to be a mom to help support me."

Whether it's on game day... josh washington says, "she definitely brings a lot of energy for me when i go out and play."

Or draft day... (take jordan key) jordan suell says, "probably my parents, my mom's been pretty excited about the whole process."

(take dante key) dante olson says, "it was a good phone call, i guess.

Um, you know, my mom and dad started crying right away."

(topic key) mom is almost always there.

And while she's probably the first to celebrate our victories, she's also the first to comfort us in defeat.

Josh washington says, "she helps me get through the ups and downs when i just need her and have a shoulder to cry on if i just need to get some of that emotion out, but that's basically what it is, she's just always there for me, just emotionally and physically there for me."

And she's always doing her best to be there when you need her most.

(take nate key) nate vidlak says, "she's always there for you, tough loss, something like that, also she's traveling everywhere.

She'll travel across the whole state, across the whole country or wherever it is."

(topic key) mother's day may only officially be one day a year, but no amount of thanks or calendar days can ever sum up how much they mean to us.

Sam vidlak says, "you just can't say thank you enough.

She's done the most of probably anybody in my life to help me and support me so you just say thank you and i love you so much."

(topic key) make sure to say thank you... nate vidlak says, "for me i would just tell my mom thank you for always being there and sacrificing all that she sacrifices like time with her friends, waking up early, making us breakfast, lunch and dinner, so thankful for you, love you and that's about what i would say to her."
