Here's when Allen County voters can expect primary election results to become official

Final unofficial results for the Indiana Primary Election are in, and The Allen County Election Board said it will be about another week before those results become official.

After taking extra time to account for a record-number of mailed-in ballots, the allen county election board now has the unofficial results for the indiana primary election.

Now hunter the allen county election board told me they were anticipating around 3,000 mailed in ballots when they began planning for the primary in januarybut with covid-19 causing more voters than ever before to cast their ballot from homeelections officials had to sift through over 30,000 more ballots than that expected number.

Nat beth 6:52i think it went pretty well considering we started out with a totally different plan in january and had to reconsider almost everything that we had planned to do.allen county director of elections beth dlug says voters will have to wait a week before they can view the official results from the primary election.sot beth 7:30 7:45instead of doing mostly machine voting we did mostly mail voting so it was a very different process.

Over the next week or so we will checking, and double checking, our numbers to make sure they are correct.over 250,000 voters are registered in allen county, and around 23 percent cast their primary ballot.sot beth 9:59more stayed home then went to the polls, but those who wanted to go to the polls didn't have as many people in those voting locations.dlug says voters hoping to stay engaged in the voting process should keep up with the national conventions to stay informed.sot beth 8:39 8:57the ballot will include some races that actually weren't on their primary ballot.

Some of those will be determined at conventions this summer.

Like the attorney general race those will be included along with the presidential and u.s. representative on the federal side, all the state offices, as well as those local offices.

Dlug says while the pandemic did complicate the voting process for the election board they will be able to learn from the experience for more efficient voting in the future.sot beth 10:08we were able to spread that all out and keep everybody a little bit safer during this pandemic.
