Covid-19: 31.6 Lakh people in quarantine across India, highest in UP | Oneindia News

A whopping 31.6 lakh people are currently in quarantine across the country as authorities made concerted efforts to check the spread of the novel coronavirus which has infected over 10 lakh people so far, officials said on Friday.

Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of people in quarantine among states, followed by Maharashtra, they said.

According to the latest available official estimate, more than 11 lakh people are in quarantine in Uttar Pradesh, 7.27 lakh in Maharashtra, 3.25 lakh in Gujarat and 2.4 lakh in Odisha.

Rebel Sachin Pilot won a reprieve of sorts today in his clash with the Congress in Rajasthan.

The Rajasthan High Court said that No action can be taken against him and 18 other rebel Congress MLAs by the Speaker till Tuesday, .

Team Pilot's challenge to disqualification notices from the Speaker will be heard again on Monday.

This morning, the Congress suspended two of the rebels alleging that they had been caught on tape conspiring with the BJP against their own government.

The Congress also named Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who has called the audio "fake".

Two police cases were filed on the allegations.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Friday attacked the NDA government over its handling of the economy, alleging the BJP-led dispensation has caused nine successive quarters of economic decline and an impending recession in 2020-21.
