Remington prepares for sale hearing

According to court documents, Remington will sell parts of the company to seven bidders, if approved in bankruptcy court tomorrow, Sept.

29.

Local workers says one of the potential bidders would keep the ilion plant open.

Court documents, obtained by newschannel two, also show....the company would be sold in pieces.

According to these court documents....a property investment firm called roundhill group llc from virginia has put a bid on the facilities in ilion and in tennessee.

The bid to purchase both facilities and brands is for 13 million dollars.

At stake right now 600 jobs here in ilion.

The international president of the united mine workers of america, the union that represents those 600 workers... released a statement today that the bidder, in this case roundhill group.... would agree to keep the plant open.

He says this subject to a final decision by the court.

He goes on to say....quote "our goal throughout this process has always been to keep that plant open and our members working.

That appears to be on track, at least to this point.

The umwa has been in talks with that bidder about our collective bargaining agreement at the ilion plant and we will be talking with them further in the coming days should their bid be accepted by the court tomorrow.

" he went on to say... this is another step in the process, and he believes it to be a positive one fothe uy tomorrow morning at 10 in bankruptcy court in alabama.

Tonight at six, we'll hear from ilion's mayor on this potential good news.
