First round pairings announced

Good news is the wabash valley boys basketball classic is still a go this year, but there are several changes due to covid-19... this years event will be called the vigo county school corporation wabash valley classic.

The draw for this years classic took place at terre haute south this afternoon... it was a little different than normal, it was virtual... this years event will run december 26th, 28th, 29th and 30th with the first three days being held at both terre haute north and terre haute south and the final day just taking place at south... here are the two brackets... we'll start with the terre haute south bracket....what an opener between two of the new teams in it... 4a top ranked bloomington south faces 1a, number four kouts.... then we got south vermillion and riverton parke, followed by one of the favorites northview against terre haute south.... and another contender in sullivan versus cloverdale... the terre haute north bracket has the host and defending champs patriots opening up agaisnt edgewood for the second year in a row... west vigo will take on shakamak... 2a, third ranked linton has been in the finals each of the last two years...they open against one of the new teams in greencastle... and another new team in north central draws ranked parke heritage... one of the big questions....can terre haute north continue their dominance in this tourney and win another classic title... i mentioned earlier this i mentioned i mentioned earlier this years event is called the vigo county school corporation wabash valley classic... first financial bank dropped out as the sponsor this year for the classic, they'll return next year.

The vigo school corporation has stepped up big time here and they say they did it for the kids... now one of the reasons the classic is so special and the best regular season tourney in the state is the crowds it draws, the atmosphere is always eletric... right now that won't happen this year....no fans will be able to attend the classic, only essential people will be allowed...
