Benchmark Metals Inc (CVE:BNCH) (OTCQB:CYRTF) (FRA:87CA) told investors there is potential to add "additional near-surface, open-pittable gold and silver ounces" at its AGB deposit at the Lawyers project in BC following the latest drill results.  A broad zone of strong mineralization is emerging at the southern part of the over 650 metres (m) long AGB zone, which remains open at depth and along strike.  READ: Benchmark Metals says CCS zone at Lawyers has potential for open-pit resources at surface and higher grades at depth Latest assays included an intersection of 66m at 2.34 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 51.48 g/t silver from a depth of 17m. Also hit was 5m at 15.31 g/t gold and 180.80 g/t silver from a depth of 37m in the most southerly sunk hole at the zone in 2020. "These drill results demonstrate strong continuity and higher-grade gold and silver material near surface," said John Williamson, CEO of Benchmark, in a statement. "The results are providing a path to expand the AGB zone to the south and to depth. This zone is showing potential to become a higher-grade, initial open pit mine that would return substantial economics in the opening years of a mining scenario." Planning for the 2021 drill program is now underway, the company added. Benchmark is focused on developing the substantial resource potential of its huge Lawyers asset, which sits in the prolific Golden Horseshoe of northern British Columbia. In January 2020, the company said it aimed to issue a new mineral resource estimate for the project in the first quarter this year and a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) in the second quarter. It also anticipates a fully funded C$25-30 million exploration and drilling program to be carried out this year. Contact the author at giles@proactiveinvestors.com
