Bengal’s first Omicron case tests positive, negative, negative in 7 days

The seven-year old Murshidabad boy who had been diagnosed with Omicron was released from Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) on Thursday after he tested negative in an RT-PCR test. He was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after a report from Hyderabad, where his sample was taken on December 10, had confirmed Omicron, making him the first in Bengal to be infected by the variant.
