The Madhya Pradesh Assembly's decision to remove the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru and replace it with that of B R Ambedkar has sparked a row with the Congress. The Congress welcomes displaying Ambedkar's portrait but believes Nehru's portrait should have been placed alongside Gandhi and Ambedkar. The portrait of Nehru was replaced due to wear and tear during the last session, according to MP Assembly Principal Secretary AP Singh. The Congress accuses the BJP of disrespecting Nehru and the nation's freedom fighters by removing his portrait.
