Andrew Cuomo released some data from the statewide antibody testing that started this week.

York state.... large scale testing.

Specifically the antibody test that shows how many new yorkers have developed the antibodies to fight the infection.

After a sampling of three thousand people.... 13.9 percent tested positive.

That comes out to be roughly nearly three million people.

Of that.... 3.6 percent are upstate.

There was testing at 40 locations over the last couple days....including at price chopper in north utica and south utica.

The governor says he needed that data to make decisions.

:04 the testing can also tell you the infection rate in the population where its higher, where its lower to inform you on a reopening strategy and when you start reopening, you can watch that infection rate to see if it's going up.

And if it's going up, slow down on the reopening strategy :34 33:04 the hospitalization rate has to be coming down.

The infection rate has to be low.

Then you can start the conversation on reopening regionally and calibrating it 33:12 the sample testing will continue on a rolling basis.

Those who tested positive may be eligible to donate plasma to help hospitalized patients.
