In the county - and what they mean for our community.

Today- huntsville hospital c-e-o david spillers announced the number of coronavirus cases are still rising here in madison county quickly and he said he's more worried about having enough staff- than beds to treat the patients.

"i think we are going to be dealing with covid for a long time."

Things are changing relatively quick.

As of this morning we have 115 covid positive patients in our system.

When i reported on june 1 we had 28."

"in madison county we have 44 inpatients.

38 at huntsville main 6 of those at madison hospital and crestwood has 2."

"16 that are in icu's and 11 of those madison county patients are on ventilators."

"i will tell you that young people are not immune from this.

We have the first teenager in the icu.

.we have a teenager in the icu."

"we are continuing to test asymptotic people the percentage that test positive continue to be well below 1 percent.

So we aren't finding asymptomatic people to be positive that often.

When some of our workers come into contact we have to put them on the sidelines for two or three days.

Well if that happens over and over again then all of a sudden you have fewer health care workers to take care of the people that are sick."

"if they get covid and they're out of work you get more patients and fewer care givers because they're home sick."

" i think we are going to have covid patients in our hospitals for a long time.

Our goal is just to make it a manageable number and we need to re- flatten the curve."

This afternoon - spillers reiterated his message from the beginning- asking people to sanitize, wear face masks social distance.
