Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar's letter to him "unfortunately justified the autocratic and arrogant attitude of the government towards Parliament has criticized the government's autocratic attitude towards Parliament. Kharge accused the ruling party of weaponizing suspension of opposition MPs to undermine democracy. The Congress president questioned the role of presiding officers in passing bills without debate and allowing the government to escape accountability on crucial issues. Kharge and Dhankhar have been involved in an exchange of letters with both raising questions on the impasse in Parliament that led to the suspension of 146 opposition MPs.
