Lane County health officials continue guidance of preventing spread of virus

Coronavirus cases across Oregon have skyrocketed, and health officials in Lane County are doing their part to prevent any spikes.

Get to our team coverage... continuing with those frightening new numbers from the oregon health authority.

As kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy reports... lane county health officials say they will continue to take things slow as cases across oregon continue to rise.

Chynna, lane county health officials made it clear that this only benefits the community, to prevent any spikes from happening here.

Jason davis with lane county public health said that they moved into phase two confident that they would be able to manage the cases and continue contact tracing.

He described the county's current situation as "dynamic" because things are constantly changing.

But the priority of isolating the virus and staying on top of cases, remains the same...because even as things reopen, loosening up on the basics, is not worth the risk.

I did ask about the status of the rapid testing machines that the county ordered...but those are still on backorder.

"we never want to say that, we are in phase 2, and that's a done deal.

We are constantly monitoring the work to be able to further understand our situation as it pertains to lane county and what we can do to remain in good standing."

Davis did share that*no individuals have been identified at this time who have been involved in a protest.

But this is something health experts are tracking.

There*has been a change to lane county's call center.

The non- emergency covid-19 call center will no longer operate on saturdays.

The new hours are now monda?friday, from 8:00 a.m.

To 5:00 p.m.

Coming up in the 5 o clock hour, i'll have the latest on the county's collaboration with the university of oregon to increase the testing capacity.
