Poll sites for early voting in New York Closed on Sunday afternoon.

Boards of Elections across the area now reporting record-breaking numbers.

And this year's turnout was record breaking.

News channel tw's brent kearney joins us now live in the studio with those numbers.

Brent, good evening.

Kristen after doing the math over 55 thousand ballots were cast across the area poll sites across the area, are statting 2020 was a record breaking year for early voting turnout.

Oneida county reporting the largest numbers.

"busy over 16,000 people voting.

It went pretty smoothly.

People did have to wait maybe an hour hour and a half i think i received a couple of calls people waited about two hours in new hartford."

Beginning with oneida county 16,971 people total came out and voted early.

A total of 19,303 absentee ballots were sent out by the county.

In herkimer county, 5,334 people went to the polls to cast their ballots.

The county says 4964 absentee ballots were sent out and 3,812 were returned so far.

Herkimer county republican commissioner kim tranter saying we are very pleased with the early voting process in herkimer county.

We never really had a wait except for the very first morning.

It was a smooth and easy process.

We had amazing workers.

Our voters loved it.

In otsego county, 5,223 people came out to vote.

The county sending out 5,981 absentee ballots and have received 4676.

"just under 30 percent of our registered voters have already casted a ballot, through early voting or by returning an absentee.

With the typical high turnout in the presidential year, so that should ease some of the lines at the polls and so it should seem like our normal general election year.:" their are some tips both commissioners would like you to know before hitting the polls tomorrow."be sure to arrive early be sure to wear masks inside your polling place get your i voted sticker and make your way out the door."

You might have to wait we're not sure.

But i think the most important thing is to wear your mask social distance be patient and be kind.
