The most recent 48-hour event was held in July.
It increased online sales in the U.S. by 6.1%, Adobe Analytics reports.
Last year, Amazon held two other shopping events in addition to Prime Day.
This year's sequel to Prime Day comes as retailers brace for a lackluster holiday season.
According to a CNBC Supply Chain Survey, two-thirds of retailers expect that consumers will be looking for discounts, while 71% think shoppers won't spend as much because of inflation
